About Applied a box-fitting algortithm to give a little bit of an interesting look and feel to a quite normal shot of a buddy at work.

I've refined the algorithm with UF input to limit the box size so I don't get any major overlaps.

I'm trying to get a layered crunchy look without getting too far from the original image.

Fractals and math are alive and well in Kansas! I like the effect especially in the mid-tones.

Hi Jan:

Yeah, so busy with work and unpacking due to a move I have not taken any shots in the last 6 weeks. I am still just goofing with some custom programming until then, mulling around, trying to get some neat effects.

Ha - no fractals in this one, but it does have a random component and some math!

Thanks for the comments, with a laptop screen I can't get any sense of whether this is balanced - I was just guessing based on my PS level.

Very succesful application of this remarkable effect. It transforms an ordinary picture into a sort of mosaic begging the viewer to pay close attention to the details. The result is very artistic and unique, like a painting. Great work, Michael :)

Hey thanks Ina.

It took a little bit of additional programming on my part to make the box size just right in my eyes to keep the mosaic pattern while still revealing the details of the photograph as a recognizable image. I'm glad you like it.
