Great shot with shadows

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Branimir, thanks! I made a mistake, I wanted to put the B & W version... but I selected the color :)Ina

Joggie van Staden   {K:41248} 1/23/2007
Excellent Ina - my favourite of the series! Regards.
Joggie

Petal Wijnen   {K:47829} 1/23/2007
Cooooooooooooooooooooooooool shot, super shadows and it's a natural B&W... so who needs converting (the only way you can tell it isn't really B&W are the tiny specks of red on the climbing frame, but I think that's a nice 'extra')... ;-D

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thanks very much Joggie :)Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thanks again, Petal! It's interesting that the monkey bars/ ladders/ whatever they are called, are red and blue, and the two bicycles were one red & one blue - go figure :) Cheers, Ina

Romy Fabian Garmaz   {K:16997} 1/23/2007
Another great great job
Congrats
Romy

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thank you again, Romy :)

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99493} 1/23/2007
Wow Ina! Awesome and unique POV! I love it. I really think this works better in color. It's like nature's B&W anyway and it carries a feel of B&W but has the glory of being in color too (with a subtle hint here and there - like in the sidewalk) . . . Just a great image all around.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Kiarang Alaei   {K:48357} 1/23/2007
Very interesting and clever catch!

Petal Wijnen   {K:47829} 1/23/2007
Hip, hip, hip... a BIP!!! And a DODo too... told you it was coooooooooooooooooooooooool, well deserved!!!

Mehul Chimthankar   {K:16775} 1/23/2007

Mehul

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thank you very much Doyle, I seldom turn my pictures to B & W, but as you said, they were almost colorless from that distance (21st floor up) :) Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thanks again Petal... wow! I just saw it... (happy face) :)

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thank you very much Mehul, I was up on the balcony and got the bird's eye view :) Cheers, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thank you so much Kiarang :) Best regards, Ina

Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:21021} 1/23/2007
Ina, the whole series is great, I love your graphic like appearance of the images with a strong contrast and top down angle. This way all is very abstract like and one has to spend time to decrypt what is what here. Great relations between real and shades. Cheers for your grand slam, NJ

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/23/2007
Thank you very much Andrzej, that's exactly how it was, looking abstract. The contrast is produced by the fresh snow, because today there are footprints and more dirt. Glad you like it :)
Best regards, Ina

Francisco N-G   {K:26763} 1/24/2007
WOW!

Superb point of view and a great perspective. From the thumbnail, it looked like an architectural drawing and when I opened it, my jaw dropped.

Amazing. Great exposure.

Congratulations.

Francisco

fotogr@vi     {K:49265} 1/24/2007
But you STILL didn't tell me how you took these ?? Were you flying from something ?? LOL :))

Dave Stacey   {K:113347} 1/24/2007
Congrats on the double award here, Ina! Very well deserved for this whole series!
Dave.

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/24/2007
Thank you AGAIN :) Avi!!!!!!!!!! It's all your fault - LOL - seriously now, many thanks :) Ina

As for the "how" I took the pictures? Ummmmm... like over the balcony rail? Looking down - no bungee cords, nothing heroic or extreme... like hanging off an airplane... I'm afraid it was all toooooo plain & simple :)))LOL

Leo Régnier  Я£   {K:62803} 1/24/2007
Wooowwww Ina you are the champion!!! Congratulations,
Leo

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/24/2007
Thanks very much Dave for all your comments on the series. Sometimes I belabor a picture for hours, and sometimes it's just plain & simple. These were all straight forward :)Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/24/2007
Thanks so much Leo, I was as surprised as you can imagine... pleasantly so, I must say :)))) Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/24/2007
Thank you very much for your comment Francisco :) It's very true, they look like sketches in the thumbnail - it's just how they were in reality :)Cheers, Ina

Leo Régnier  Я£   {K:62803} 1/24/2007

wow....congratulations for both awards!
you have earned(made) them also with this nice series!

very well seen and very fine work, ina!
congratulation over again! ;-)

lg,
winfried

ps: has the winter with snow come in canada?
since today there is also in many parts of europe the first snow (also in germany) ;-)

sascha jonack   {K:17447} 1/24/2007
WOW, what a amazing shot. I first thought is is a drawing. Such a perfect play with shadows, so well captured. You have earned the award. Congrats. All the best and good hunting for the next award picture. ;))
Sascha

Thanks very much Elisa & more Hugs :)Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/25/2007
Thanks very much Roby, if you want, you can have all the snow! I'll send it your way :) Cheers, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/25/2007
Hi again Winfried and thanks :) The snow is coming down for a few days now, but not staying, in other words it melts fast - I think if you live in the city it's messy, it gets dirty fast, and the roads are sprinkled with salt.
But if you live in the country it's clean and pretty. This year it's been very warm until recently, and some areas of Canada (like Vancouver) have had more snow than us on the East coast, which is abnormal. It's very different from coast to coast :)Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/25/2007
Thanks very much Sascha, I feel humbled by the awards, because there there are so much better photographers on this site, and there is so much talent and creativity, it's amazing to watch everybody's new work every day, every minute :) Ina

Roberto Arcari Farinetti   {K:177029} 1/25/2007

Dear Ina you are very welcome. I agree with you, I enjoy it too looking each day what kind of new pictures are posted to UF. There are a lot of very good projects. But in my point of view, you have a great eye to see things and to catch them. Therefore you have earned all the awards you have become in the past.
All the best to you.
Sascha

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/25/2007
Thank you very much Roby, I really appreciate your continued support :) even when I was away :))) Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/25/2007

Thanks again, Tony :)Ina

Andre Denis   {K:55532} 1/27/2007
HI Ina,
Congrats on the two awards for this wonderful image full of geometrical design caused by the shadows!
Isn't it ironic that you get the award for the one that you didn't really intend to post :)
I agree with you about the B&W versions being the way to go with this set though. B&W lends itself perfectly to the high contrast of snow and shadow.
Great job on the whole set!
Andre

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 1/27/2007
Hi Andre, it came as a surprise, especially since this one I accidentally posted in color, but as soon as I realized the mistake, I didn't replace it with the B & W version because I had already posted the others in sequence :) Thank you very much for looking at my pictures, I appreciate it :) Ina

Eb Mueller   {K:22087} 1/28/2007
