Excellent capture Ina. Lots of action including the pigeon, beautiful blue winter sky, nice splattering of colour on the skaters clothes.

Have a great day.
Joe

Great shot, there is a lot to see ..
Peter

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/5/2007
Thanks very much Joe, it was nice and warm at Christmas. I think the coolest pictures would have been at night, I didn't know at the time that they had a month-long festival of lights and fireworks, so I'll have to wait till next year :)
Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/5/2007
Thanks very much Peter, night shots here would be more dramatic, but with long exposure the skaters tend to blur completely and disappear :) Best regards, Ina

winter in canada, a song from the year 1966 in germany...has occurred to me with this picture immediately ;)

wir standen am fenster mit unseren träumen
im haus am eriesee
ein kalter dezembermond hing in den bäumen
da fiel der erste schnee
ein zauber betörte die herzen
das wunder der liebe geschah
und dann über nacht war es winter geworden
winter in canada...............................

beautiful perspective and great scene...great architecture shot!!!
well seen, ina!

lg,
winfried

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/5/2007
Thank you so much for the song and your comment, Winfried :) I'll have to find it and listen to it :) I understand most of the words, too! It was a great day with blue sky at Christmas but I didn't know there were fireworks at night, and I missed that. Maybe next year... With best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/5/2007
Thank you very much Gennaro :) Cheers, Ina

Andre Denis   {K:55208} 2/6/2007
A nice, cheerful scene here Ina! I like the way it advertises Toronto as the kind of city where you can walk and play in the city streets without fear. A nice tourism/commercial type image.

Did you get a chance to photograph the "giant snowglobe" that they had set up down there last week?
Andre

Eb Mueller   {K:22087} 2/6/2007
This is a classic, Ina! One can't do a Toronto winter without getting the skaters at City Hall! I like the angle and the nice touch with the pigeons!
Eb

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/6/2007
Thanks Andre for your comment :) I didn't go downtown much lately, because of the cold spell. These pictures were taken around Christmas time, when it was warmer and mostly sunny, and I also missed the Festival of Lights in Nov-Dec. It'll happen next year :) Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/6/2007
Thanks Eb, it's a classic Toronto scene, although it's been so cold lately, it's probably only the pigeons left :) Best regards, Ina

Walter Scarella   {K:17126} 2/6/2007

Jordin Brown   {K:183} 2/19/2007
I really like the archways & how they bring my eye over the skaters and to the building in the background. And with City Hall having the same shape really complements & finishes well.

- Jordin

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/19/2007
Thank you so much Harry, skating at the City Hall is a typical Toronto winter shot, it was a very sunny Christmas! Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/19/2007
Thank you very much Jordin, this is a typical winter scene, I was out with my new wide angle lens testing its capabilities :) Have a great day, Ina

Leora Long   {K:9508} 9/23/2007
Great use of the 10-20, Ina. So much depth in the composition. The bridge with the birds is a nice touch -- coexisting with the skaters.

The only things that would make it better for me is a deeper blue sky. I played with it in levels and brought the sky and contrast down a bit and a polarizer is not even needed.

I will post another comment with the attacment, if you approve.

Cheers for all your good work, Lee

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 9/23/2007
Thanks for both critiques Lee, and for taking the time...I've been too busy and haven't been active on Usefilm for about six months, I don't know when I'll be back posting again, but please go ahead, and post your version, it's much appreciated. Best regards, Ina

Leora Long   {K:9508} 9/23/2007
Thanks, Ina. I will go ahead and post my version keeping in mind that yours is perfect and this is only experimental.

I have not been too active myself on Usefilm and was very happy to discover your work.

Also I have not been to TO since these new structures were built. Quite striking. I almost moved there with my first husband - we loved Toronto.
