About I watched Sumo the other day, a one-day knock-out event, not the usual 15-day tournament. This time it was with a digital camera, which made heavy weather of the strong contrast between the intense illumination on the ring and the gloom elsewhere.

Thanks for visiting, Roger! I see your Nikon is doing a great work!I like this busy and detailed image of the sumo hall!I never experienced this atmosphere personally in all my 23 years of Japan.
Hope you are fine and doing well! You've been an absentee for quite some time! Glad you are back!
Friendliest regards,
Gabriela

I like the perspective.... interesting, never been to a Sumo match...

Thanks, Paul. everyone should go at least once. Once would be enough for many people but you CAN get hooked... I see I have some rather too luminous reds there. I guess my tolerance for saturation is going up under Usefilm influence .

HAHA, wish i was there!!....yeah bring on the color Roger...lol...you know i like it! Super perspective this image really gives me the feeling of being there. To bad there is no sounds to go with it. I am sure there are lots of cheers and groans as this fast paced sport ensues.

wow, roger!! you really had a great telephoto, if this is where you sat (with the other photo)...put more pictures up, please!

Roger Williams   {K:84106} 5/1/2007
Thanks, Jessie. This was taken with my ultra-wide 11-18mm Tamron lens. This makes the 18-70mm Nikon zoom on my D200 look pretty "long" in comparison... Unfortunately my battery ran out shortly afterwards, something I'm not used to yet after the changeover from film. So no more pictures! These two were IT. Bummer.

Good to know that you're doing okay...
this is a wonderful shot with the highlights on the sumo stage, very interesting capture with the colorful crowd watching this game.
regards,
bobot
