Great capture Ina, It all goes together so well, the building clad in glass, the contrasting wooden bench, the other building seen through the building in the foreground, reflections, and last but not least the guy. Excellent job.

All the best,
Joe

Ray Vann   {K:3090} 2/13/2007
Great emotional shot. This is the type of shot that us photographer just love to happen across.

God bless,
Ray

Dave Stacey   {K:113245} 2/13/2007
Very well seen and captured human interest shot, Ina! This is the type of photograph that definitely causes the questions of what, why, and who to be asked.
Dave.

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/13/2007
Thank you very much Joe, I was taking pictures of the building when I saw him through the glass in the corner, he wasn't aware of me, I took 3 shots, and he sat there slumped, looking distressed. Who knows why... The building is a marvel of modern architecture. I'll post a few soon. Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/13/2007
Thank you very much for your comment Ray. I was taking shots of this modern building from the outside and noticed this guy just on the 2nd floor in the corner. He seemed distressed. I guess these are moments that we happen upon when we least expect. Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/13/2007
Thank you very much for your comment Dave. This is one of the reasons why I still love the Panasonic - even though the image quality is not as good as my 20D, I may have missed this, depending on what lens I would have had on at the time. The Panasonic goes from 35-420mm and covers just about everything. That's how I got the other pictures with the photographers, totally by chance. Best regards, Ina

Branimir Fagarazzi   {K:38361} 2/13/2007
Excellent shot

Hi Ina! GREAT! Adding a sad looking soft/human element to this hard world of concrete, glass etc. [also mental challenges in this case] is just fabulous .. luckily he has a wooden bench to sit on :) My only wish is that he wouldn´t be quite so centered, but that´s just my humble opinion, of course. Fabulous work ... it just keeps me staring and wondering what his problems might be.

NN     {K:26787} 2/13/2007
Oooops ... I got too worried ... forgot the important *hugs* ;-)

Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:21021} 2/13/2007
Ina, you have a great eye for capturing so special scenes and force unrelated subject cooperating closely in your pictures. It's wonderful story here about this young guy distracted, stressed or lost in his not so perfect world so naturally entrapped by the web of the perfect lines, geometry shapes and reflections. Amazing. Cheers, NJ

Paolo Corradini   {K:50066} 2/13/2007
wow this is amazing the modern architecture and a man alone in this glass net...well composed
well done dear Ina
PAOLO

Petal Wijnen   {K:47829} 2/13/2007
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that doesn't look too good... maybe he just flunked a test... or his girlfriend left him a (few) day(s) before Valentine's day...
Very well spotted image, love the square crop and the vertical lines, nice colors/tones... good one!!!

Robert Kocs   {K:89061} 2/14/2007
Hi dear Ina! This photograph is very well captured,
the colours and tonal range are give a special feeling
for the theme. Exciting details and great reflection
very nice concept. Nicely done.

Have a nice day dear my friend,
Robert

Andre Denis   {K:55471} 2/14/2007
Very nice Ina! You are really making the most of the strucural glass in the city :)
It's good when the people in the images tell us a story with their body language. Nicely captured.
Andre

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/14/2007

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/15/2007
Thank you very much Andre, there is a lot of glass around here :) This is a great new building, I'm waiting for a sunny day to catch more of its side colors. And hopefully I'll be able to go inside to see what else there is. Best regards, Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/15/2007
Hi Petal, those were my assumptions, but we'll never know! Meanwhile, I hope you had a great Valentine's Day :) Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/15/2007

Thanks again Branimir, hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day :) Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/15/2007
Thanks for your great comment Elisa, he ended up "center stage" in the square crop. I cropped away a red brick building on the right, which still shows through the glass. This isolated him more, I think. I want to go inside that building, it should be very interesting :) Hugs, and I hope you had a great Valentine's Day :) Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/15/2007
Thanks very much for your kind thoughts, Andrzej! I was shooting outside this building (which is amazing by the way, you can't see it from this picture) and spotted this young man who seemed so distressed. I almost felt guilty, but couldn't resist. Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day :) Ina

NN     {K:26787} 2/15/2007

Dave Arnold   {K:54774} 2/16/2007
Wow, what a great urban photo. The reflections, the view through the glass and then the subject. Just awesome and I can certainly see why this constituted a Best in Project award. Congratulations, Ina.

Best to you,
Dave

Eb Mueller   {K:22087} 2/17/2007
Well done, Ina! I like the bold forms, lines and strong texture. A great backdrop for the isolated figure. Then there is the contrastingly coloured line of the bench leading to the figure. Brilliant!
Eb

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 2/17/2007
Thank you very much Eb, that wooden bench looks to me like a diving board :) Best regards, Ina

jacek bielarz   {K:1133} 2/19/2007
beautiful, beautiful crayon colours Ina. It would be brilliant even without the guy. soft lightinig, lovely patterns. Great capture

Thank you very much for your analysis, Ahmed! How true! Have a great day, Ina

Aram Gharib   {K:4086} 2/23/2007
Wonderful!! Is this a hazard that the loneliness of this Modern Man is seen through a blur image of The Old reflected by The New?!

Anyhow, I loved it! Congratulations.

Mark Wlaz   {K:4558} 2/25/2007
BIP, and deservidly so.

Maryam Ashoori   {K:2171} 2/26/2007

Dear Ina,

I missed the good old time of checking UseFilm every other day and expected finding new posts from you... I hope you are doing well. Please let me know where can I find your works (I seriously doubt that you have not been photographing since these last pictures).

Anyhow, it's not the best way to send a greetings message(!) but was the only I had.

Be fine!

Yours,

-- Aram

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 7/11/2008
Thanks so much for checking my work, Aram! It was nice hearing from you again. I have been inactive in general in photography, but very busy at work. I miss all the fun I had on Usefilm, and I have not posted much of anything other than some pictures of my cat in a family album. I wish you all the best, I hope you're well, and wish you lots and lots of inspiration and many artistic rewards!
My best regards,
Ina

Ina Nicolae   {K:44481} 7/11/2008
