About 4H was uploaded also to show a manipulation creating a 'spring' effect. a) the 4H image was inverted (back to its original). b) the Photoshop Glowing Edges was applied with high smoothing and small line size. c) the Photoshop Radial Blur was applied. d) this was blended back with the original 4H using Darken, or other blending modes. e) some selective erasing could be done, increasing contrast. But a) through d) is the basic method.

I've been doing this kind of blurring in-camera by spinning my wrist while shooting. Much harder to get the shot centered, but pretty cool results when I hit it right.
