About I was amazed but pleasantly surprised to find this old pile of boards still in the shape of a house thru the winds, snow , and rains we've had since I came accross it last fall. I took several images this time .. but had trouble posting it yesterday . I had help from my dear friend 'Dave Arnold' who down-sized it to the right pixel limits and also post-processed it with PS of which I don't have use of ..I think he made it look very nice and I am very grateful to him for this as well..Thanks Dave !!!

Marlyce Chastain   {K:4059} 2/19/2007
Michele....I just have to say that in my opinion this looks a little tilted..........not the horizon silly, the house! Beautiful capture. I agree with Annemette about not going inside...in fact I probably would advise against getting any closer than you are at this point. Very well done.

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 2/19/2007
Thanks Annemtte.... I did get really close to that big low window on the right side and shot a picture of the inside as there is a lot of stuff in there .... It came out pretty creepy..I can't believe all the stuff that's inside ..Like someone just walked out of the house and never came back..... (?)
But I won't go inside !!!
Michele~

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 2/19/2007
Thank You Marlyce .... Uh, Oh...I did go closer but nothing happened . Amazing this thing isn't some kind of hazzard, well it is , but amazing someone has left it sort of standing, or leaning..lol!!

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 2/19/2007
Creepy indeed with such a "ghosthouse" that has been left almost as it was. Now you need to show me that photo from the inside of the home!! Iīm a woman - Iīm curious*LOL*

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 2/19/2007
Thank you fellow-woman:-) Oh what a pity - I canīt really see what is in there. I wouldnīt have thought of using a longer exposure standing so close to those walls either:0
Thanks for the effort
Annemette

Michele -- Great teamwork --
Here is the old song:

This old house is afraid of thunder. This old house is afraid of storms.
This old house just groans and trembles when the night wind flings its arms.
This old house is getting feeble. This old house is needin' paint.
Just like me it's tuckered out, but I'm getting ready to meet the saints.

--Best wishes, Jan
PS: I am not personally planning on meeting the Saints anytime soon :) :)

William Lee   {K:1470} 2/20/2007
I love the history in these old homes, who grew up there and how they maneged and if anyone that lived there is still alive? this alone is interesting to me as well as creepy.
Regards, bill

Carlen Schmidt   {K:7061} 2/20/2007
Michele! I've missed your photos. I think you've greatly improved. I like your composition of the shot, and yes, it's a miracle this place is still (semi) intact.

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 2/20/2007
Thank You so much Bill !!

School is going pretty well. It sure keeps me busy! My spring break starts on Friday which I am very excited about. I'm spending the weekend with my best friend, who I haven't seen since August, for her bierthday and then heading home to spend some time with family/friends. The good news is I'm getting a Nikon D70s next week and I am SO EXCITED! I can't wait to start taking pictures again. (I left my Fuji with my step dad, didn't want it anymore)

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 2/20/2007
WOW! what great colors, saturation, light and clarity!!! LOL

Thanks for all that credit.... but you deserve it for stepping out there and getting a good camera. Not to mention your desire to go back out and re-shoot your populr subjects!

Best widgets,
Dave

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 2/20/2007
I remember this house Michele! It's amazing it really is "still standing"! Great to see it again. And a wonderful image of it- like the angle and the colours. You're catching history before it moves on any minute!

Ardalan Haddad   {K:13934} 2/20/2007
looking at this beutifully captured shot, I feel strong, and standing. It makes me think about patience. To be brave against problems,
and this intimate house reminds me of the time there was a life and you have just revived it into memories.

Great job Michele...

So Happy to meet you in UF.
Take care,
Ardalan

Ok. Dave - I agree (though I think HE went a little overboard with the post processing).
Jan - LOVE that song and it's PERFECT for this shot.
You - KEEP shooting . . . maybe you can lend me a raw image from Hawaii to work on for you . . . Your shooting is top notch . . . all that's left is getting the post work down to instinct!! I know you'll have some awesome shots for us soon!

Marco Vredegoor   {K:7301} 3/2/2007
hey michele, great picture again, and very interesting for me (as an architect) to see that it still stands. There is no easy way of designing this so that it will keep standing on its ground. The last picture of you from this "house", i used as my screen image on msn, i hope that is ok with you. And this one is even better. Well captured, and let me know when this finally collaps.

* James *   {K:20142} 3/4/2007
hmmmmm good work. i would have entitled this one "The Slanty Shanty."

best wishes from china. james

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 3/5/2007
Thank You so much for your kind comment to both Dave and myself !!

Best wishes,
Michele~

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 3/5/2007
Hi Marco ,

Thank You for your comment and I am flattered that You would use any of my images as a screensaver. Of ccourse it is alright with me , my friend .. ! I will let you know when it collapses, this old house altho it may stand longer than it looks from this angle I have shot it... the 3 other sides are much stronger. 3 other sides does sound wierd but this house has 6 sides . I will try to send the front door side...
Take care my friend,
Michele~

on 2nd look maybe not?

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 3/5/2007
Hi james,

Thank you for the comment ! I like your title much better ... than mine.

Best wishes from PNW, USA
Michele~

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 3/5/2007
Doyle You know I would've had I could've BUT I was on leave from anything but hotel computers... then the other factor of I don't really understand shooting in RAW yet....soon, very soon. It'll be my next book I read ..lol!!!
I could send you a couple in jpg if you wanted Monday or Tues ? It would be my honor if I could do something for you !
I am still sorting thru images all today , and not EVEN half way done, therefore the Mon, or Tues.
Think about it.... & let me know...okie doke..
Regards,
michele~

Woooowww Michele,

Fabulous shot and a great subject. This is the dream of every photographer, to find such a perfect subject. You really came out with a very nice view. I played a bit with it to see what is possible and added one, hope you don't mind.
You are really a fast learner, with skills growing each day. Great idea and very nice result. I like this excellent view, my dear Michele. Compliments !!!

Warm greetz and huggsss...

Michele Carlsen   {K:140703} 3/25/2007
Thank YOU so much Albert. This was a gift as I saw it since I got a flat tire while driving some logging roads and came accross this house as a result !
I don't mind ever if you like to play with my images-- I also like your alternative, it looks very natural !!

Thanks again,
Warm Greetz,
Michele~
