About The Himalayan Ibex (C. s. hemalayanus) is an endangered subspecies -- a kind of Mountain Goat -- in Northern Areas of Pakistan, in Afghanistan, etc. I caught this guy at the LA County Zoo . . . and after a head-butting contest he was revealed to be the dominant male . . . and I think it shows!!

Thanks VERY much Sylvia . . . They were fighting so fast (and before I was there) that my camera (fully manual) and I had NO time to get the amazing shot. I did fire off three shots ASAP (see attached) but they were of poor quality. Still - it was a thrilling thing to see!

WOW!! Still a great action shot. The noise when the heads bash together is amazing, I can tell you from personal experience that it ain't no fun being on the receiving end of one of those head butts LOL.
Sylvia
PS If you don't like the quality of this photo send it to me and I can glowify it for you;-) LOL

I checked Usefilm last night specially to see if you had posted any new images from the zoo.

The Himalayan Ibex was difficult to photograph, but here you have captured the Ibex perfectly and in what is a beautiful foreground and background. The Ibex appears to be in its natural surroundings and not at a zoo.

Excellent sharp focus and great colors.

Fantastic, Doyle...I love the one of them butting heads, too. His expression is definitely one of pride, and almost wise.:)

I cannot tell a lie Lisa . . . Uhhhhh . . . I mean, uhhhhh . . . I'll tell YOU the truth . . . uhhhhhh . . . about this image (HEHEHEEheehehee) . . .

There was a very fine wire line at the top of the cliff behind him. Uhhhhh . . . well . . . it's like this . . . I cloned it out. But you MUST admit cloning the single wire helped, huh? Thanks for your very valuable support my friend.

You know it's funny . . . on the way UP the lighthouse I was asked a bunch of questions by a lady coming down (with a Canon) . . . and I thought (hmmmm . . . this might be Lisa) but I never asked. You know . . . we WILL cross tracks sooner or later. :) Oh, and I'll expect a curtsey to the King of Cool! LoL!

You know that's really funny. Cause a few times I've been out and there has been a thought or two about could that be the one and only Doyle D. Chastain.

I'm going to practice my curtsey now.

I'll bring a Sharpie so you can autograph my camera bag too. LOL

Lisa

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99842} 3/8/2007
Heheheee . . . The funniest part is the first thing I see on any people seems to be the camera. I can tell without looking who usually shoots with what (you're Canon) and Lord help me if I see a Nikon! I inventory all of it in my head. Marlyce and I were next to the 'official' zoo photographer (Nikon - Nikkor 400mm) . . . Me with 70-300mm and Marny with 200-500mm . . . all shooting the same thing. But HE had the cool safari suit and zoo patch!! :) (You get my siggy only if you sign mine)!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
