About Yesterday in my garden the gerbera was set in fire by the last flames of the dying sun.
This plant of gerbera has broken a world record: 12 month always blooming without a rest, drugged by this crazy winter.

The sun set the fire, the blurring made it more fiery (f/5). In the attachement below I posted the same image taken at f/22 to show the difference.
Normal minimal adjustements in PS. Colors untouched.

The wide aperture really works well with this shot. Nice one indeed.

I like both images, though they are alike to a certain extent, finally they are different and they make different impressions. They are beautifully composed both of them and you play well with the shallow DoF, creating a feeling of mystery.....like was that snail going to turn into a fairy (?)You leave us guessing!

Lovely colours and very wellcomposed Giuseppe. I definitely prefer this above the f22 version. My only critique is the plane of focus: The central spairal of the snail should be pinsharp in my opinion. A fstop of 8 might have given you enough depth forthe snail while retaining that beautiful glow of the blurred petals. Lovely image all the same!

Wonderful and such unusual macro shot :)

Terrific macro shot. Great color and very well placed main focal point. Always nice to view your portfolia Giuseppe.

Giuseppe Guadagno   {K:33980} 3/25/2007
You are right, Joggie, as usual. The blurring was not deep so a selective contrast and sharpen have had some result. What do you think about?
Thanks a lot for your costant help, began with my very first pictures I posted in UF. Take care.

Giuseppe

A very poetical and colorful image that indeed makes something special out of soft focus, though the darker parts at the top stand in a kind of opposition to the the rich coloring of the rest.

To tell you the truth, the amount of soft focus on the petals achieved with the camera alone, together with the very well focused snail, is much stronger without any alteration afterwards.

I only wonder how you could achieve such a selective focus at f/22.

Best wishes and keep it up,

Nick
