About The briefest moment of a stranger's life, frozen by my camera into something tangible and concrete. Stranger still that I never saw her face...

You never saw her face but she fits nicely in the archway and the colour of her clothes and bag matches the stonework. You both must have been in the right place at the right time.
Regards, Gary

Lovely and muted colors and what is so amazing is that I can imagine how she looks from the photo.

It almost feels like the parting of two lovers, and indeed your camera did love her.
I like the depth of this but would like to see the very slight tilt on the verticals removed.

Hope you don't mind,I just did a quick run-through in Photoshop with the lens correction filter, also a very slight CC rotation, what do you think? :)

Patrick Crowther   {K:13570} 3/24/2007
Glad you like the photo... but I think your reworking just replaces one problem with a worse one! The horizontal lines now look completely wrong... nice try though. Thanks for the comment Meg.

Patrick Crowther   {K:13570} 3/24/2007
To be more specific, the vertical of the wall on the right now looks completely curved.

Paul Lara   {K:78573} 3/24/2007
Isn't that awsome...that your photography allows that to happen? I think so.

Patrick Crowther   {K:13570} 3/24/2007
I think I've been very unclear with my comments, Meg, so I'll try to be more lucid! I tried correcting the image using a combination of warp and lens correction before uploading it, but the problem was that however I attempted it, I was going to lose part of her hand (as happened with your version), which I definitely didn't want to do... for me it is the most important part of the image. So I decided to put up with the imperfections...

Liz Wallis   {K:25505} 3/25/2007
This rocks Patrick..I think its the fact that you cannot see a face. you can only imagine what she looks like, and what her expression was at the time. A touch of mystery so you always wonder.
Nicely done.

Excellent shot. I hate to disappoint, however, but I'm almost certain that's my cousin Roger. He's a welder in Croydon, specializes in restoration work. He's bonkers about his hair.

Cheers,

Jon

Patrick Crowther   {K:13570} 3/26/2007

Or an Anglican minister in Leeds. I always get those things mixed up.

Thanks a lot, Wayne!
