Found out I can see detective Barnaby and comment all at once:-) He actually just mentioned Oxford. THis looks like a heathen Irish ritual celebrated at Springtime.

Morris dancing is an age-old tradition which is mocked by many nowdays, but I find it very entertaining and fun. The people who take part in it have a great laugh and tend to drink huge amounts of beer afterwards. One of the major dates in the calendar for the dancers is May 1st... Mayday... the coming of Spring. So you were quite right about that part of the ritual, Annemette. Many years ago I was in Oxford visiting a friend (when I still lived in London) when I was hit over the head by a Morris dancer wielding a pig's bladder. It is supposed to make you fertile... maybe one day I'll find out if it worked!

Should I one day walk the streets of Oxford or fields of Cornwall and come about ten children with wildgrowing eyebrows, Iīll know that it worked;-) Itīs good to keep up such traditions. Why eliminate all fun and gatherings that once had a purpose?:-)
