Thanks you so much Ace! As I already asked Dave, doesn't that branch out of focus on the middle top break the succession of the branches into the distance in an obtrusive way? I have the feeling that it shouldn't be there, but of course I can't order the trees to grow for satisfying my fantasies about photogenity ;-)

Yes Nick, but in a natural setting, you can't always have everything perfect, and I try to recognize that in my own and other peoples images. You can always try creative cropping and of course in camera composition to try and avoid these things.

Aggrrrrr, yes, yes, Dave, exactly that is what I hate in such natural settings! I mean, who told them to grow this way, to disappoint my photographic frustration dreanms, hey? ;-)
Bloody trees and flowers that always have to grow in the most inappropriate way, in order to give me the next headache, heartache, stomachache - whatever! Didn't they told them that there are real existing photographers on this world? What's that? An infinite source of unsolved problems for the photographer, or what??? ;-)
Trying to communicate with those beings now - they don't seem to care about us, I tell ya!

I agree that this is a bit hypnotic. There is really a lot going on. It's a cacophony, but one that works. You might experiement with b&w conversion and even radical contrast adjustments to see what other moods you can create with this single shot.

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, James. Yes, it is working cacophony - a very fitting, short and strong description of what I refer to as the ability to see patterns where there are perhaps none. Chaos theory, self-similarity and self-organisation can be so exciting!
I converted it to greyscale and adjusted contrast to maximum for seeing what the maximal effect could be, rather than selecting the type/extend of manipulation - and then this! A bit freaky and a bit.. scary in some ways. Interesting!

Still working with this one, James. Some of the results have quite a gothic-comics character, that nonetheless preserves a thoughtful atmosphere rather than being "scary".
