About This photograph (4824) was shot at a small club on lower Queen Anne (near the Space Needle) on 10 February 2007.

All luxagrphic techniques done in-camera. This shot involves camera motion and interposing a tumbler (glass) between the lens and the subjectd lights (a la Phillip Minnis and his marvelous glass dish).

To view my color corrected version:

Anyway, the important part is that all those distortions were created without PS (or any other software). They are from various lights within the bar.

Hope you like it.

Creative work James... wow.
Sure 7/7 for the creativity and originality of the photo.
Bravo my friend,
Khaled.

luis pereira   {K:18832} 4/5/2007
Truly fantastic. You probably won't be able to do this again.

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/5/2007
Luis - Thanks. Actually I do this pretty consistantly. I have been developing techniques which allow me to repeat specific results, then it is a matter of carefully selecting subjects.

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/5/2007
Khaled - Thank you. I am working hard to develop a unique style all my own.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:143243} 4/5/2007
Definitely has an organic feeling, James...great one!:)

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/5/2007

This comment is here to make my comment count an even number.

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/6/2007
Thanks, Yutaka. I don't understand, but it seems like a compliment.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:143243} 4/6/2007
You're a scream, James!;)

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/6/2007
I use the comment count to see if anyone has commented recently on an image (so I don't have to go back to my e-mail).

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 4/7/2007
Hmm a crowded place to dance by the looks of it;)It looks like a symphony of lights and smoke that feels very physical.
Take care
Annemette

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/7/2007
Annemette - Thanks. I suppose it would have been rather crowded since the shot was taken in a small glass. Not much room for dancing, but plenty of room for a rum and coke.

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 4/8/2007
*LOL* Okay I see the problem- in Denmark we say on certain occasions that we hop on our tongues - maybe this is the way to go then to be able to dance in that glass*LOL*

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/8/2007
You hope on your tongues? What does that mean?

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 4/8/2007
We donīt hope but hop on our tongues if we do sth. extraordinary, doesnīt need to be done so extremely well...oh itīs hard to explain. Anyway I just thought of this saying as a possibility to dance in the glass:-)
Gīnight from Scandinavia

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/9/2007
Oops. That was my bad typing. Supposed to be hop. Like saltimbocca, which is comes from the Italian for "jumps in the mouth" (not "jumpse ine thee mouthe"). But it's food.

Is this like saying you stumbled on your tongue, so you said something that you ought to not have said?

Or like a slip of the tongue, so you said something other than what you intended (jumbled words)?

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 4/11/2007
sorry for my late response, James- my right hand starts hurting from all this "mousehandling" activity:-)
No jump on oneīs tongue means more that one does far too much effort, sth. that is not possible. Itīs funny how a common expression can be so hard to explain to foreigners while not even thinking about it when using it in Denmark.
Tuttelut

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/12/2007
Annamette - Yeah, years ago I was seeing this cute little Danish girl. She was telling us a joke one day and she went all the way through the joke to the punch line and paused. "Oh, wait. That doesn't work in English." It was more funny than the joke could possibly have been.

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55404} 4/12/2007
*LOL* I imagine so. Some jokes and some sayings just doesnīt work in other regions of the world.

James Cook   {K:37073} 4/12/2007
Yep.

Marian Man   {K:69688} 4/14/2007
