This image was shot with my Nikkor 20/2.8D wide open, handheld with ambient light from the varanda window only and low ASA (100) slide film - my beloved Provia. On a closer inspection at big enlargement you can see that, altough she's focused, since she's moving she's a bit blurred.
I bought this lens for its ability to close focus without too much distortion, allowing me to have the subject in first plane focused and the background defocused, which is somewhat difficult with wide angles. This one is better at this than my 24/2.8, one other excellent wide angle from Nikkor but since its angle of view is a bit smaller than the 20, I prefer it to photograph places, travels and other subjects. For first plane/second plane composition I think the 20 rules.
This lens, as other great Nikkors I have, was somewhat forgotten since I was in honeymoon with my 85/1.4D for more than a year. Well, I decided to give the others a chance and so I'll be using more my 20/2.8D, 24/2.8 AIS, 180/2.8ED AIS and 300/4.5 EDIF AI before my wife questions why I don't sell them... ;-)
