Great tones here...reminds me of a Steinbeck line about the Salinas Valley - the clouds hung over the valley like a lid on a big pot.

Wonderful depth and color in this shot. I love how the sky looks like it is so close to the ground. By leaving this amount of foreground my eye takes in all of the beautiful details but still goes all the way through to the mountains beyond. Alison

Hi Elisabeth,
the lighting here is mostly due to the circumstances of the moment. i have pictures before and after this one when the clouds came over and it is not very exciting. So it is the little hole in the sky and the light pouring through at this moment that made this such a dramatic image....not me or the camera so much.
I looked at your portfolio and it is excellent you have a good eye for the composition and great renderings. Thank You for visiting my photo and commenting.
