WHOA!
This is too funny that you just now posted this, Wayne. Yesterday I visited this place TWICE.

I'll post my shots for ya! :)

Wayne Winsauer   {K:6290} 5/19/2007
HA!
The whole time I was shooting that day, I was thinking, "Man this is so close to Pauls house, I wonder if he has shot it yet!"
Cant wait to see them! I had some issues handling the light in this shoot as it was wide open sun in early afternoon. I originally wanted to get some detail under the tree but had to settle for a little bit higher contrast. I'll go out and shoot again closer to dusk to see what I can come up with.
P.S. notice I cloned out the rooftops on the right side of the image. Just a heads up.

Hi Wayne,

Where have I been? Tried video for a while and participated at a contest I felt I could win...but didn't :)
C'est la vie...........
Keep up the good work!

Alain

A perfect composition. I will not analize it by the book - I just know it when i see it. A somewhat overshadowed foliage at the left. Have you ever tried HDR? It makes wonders especially with such harsh light. And it's very easy. Valerij

Wayne Winsauer   {K:6290} 6/22/2007
Thank you Valery!
No I have not tried HDR yet but I have been greatly considering it!
My understanding of it is to take 3 or more exposures on a tri-pod and layer them together while using a mask to show the best parts of each layer.
Is this the way that you do it?

Thanks for the advice!

Valery Reznikov   {K:2763} 6/22/2007
Hi Wayne! I've written a small tutorial for an american photo site http://www.photochimps.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4154 - you may have a look. You will be asked to register to see photos attached but you as well may read without looking at them. And there are useful links to the whole ocean of HDR staff. BTW I get excellent results with one RAW and PS CS3 RAW converter. It helps to greatly expand the otherwise narrow dynamic range in sunlit scenes. Valerij

Though the trails is not as prominent as I would expect concidering your title, Wayne, still a photo of its own atmosphere. Especially because of the tree that seems to somehow be more important than the trail that leads to it, just like some kind of target that makes it possible to find a way to it, no matter from what direction one approaches.

Purely technically it is brilliant inits very nice representation of twilight tones in B&W. Even if it wasn't captured in twilight, still its hues make that atmosphere stronger, that allows to realize that it is the tree where one whould get to.

Very nice work!

Nick

Wayne Winsauer   {K:6290} 7/19/2007
Thanks Nick for the kind encouraging comment!
