One of your very best, Thilo ... hope this doesn´t symbolize that you´re leaving for good. Anyway, the future looks bright ;-) Impressive work!

Great shot, Thilo. Love the perspective and silhouetting of the people. It works that the focus is nearly dead center but I think I might have cropped it to move the subjects a little higher in the shot (rule of 3rds). Very dramamtic sky which adds to the beauty of this shot too. Really excellent work. ~ Warmest regards, Rocky

Terrific shot. About the only thing I would pick is that I'd like the rightmost figure to be separated from the trees.

Hi Rocky,
thanks for the feedback! I know that this image doesn't follow any traditional rules, but I don't want to lose shadow parts or sky here. =)

Hi Thilo, I can totally relate to this. Yes, it is always a dilemma deciding how to crop when so many elements in an image are working so well. The sky, the road, the shadows are all fantastic. Trying to improve the composition after-the-fact can sometimes be very challenging (if not impossible). The time to do it, of course, is at the time of capture. Even then, it may not have been possible to keep all the elements in the shot. Did you shoot several shots of this? Maybe some from different angles? I wonder how a lower angle would have looked. If it were my shot, I would have probably left this one alone as well. The horizon is above center which is just enough away from "dead" center to keep it "alive." Plus there is great movement in the subjects and the converging lines. The more I look at this image the more I love it. It was just tugging at me to mention how the "crash-point" is nearly dead center. However, I love it when a shot is brilliant in spite of the rules. This one is. Your portfolio is excellent and this shot adds to it very well. ~ Warmest regards, Rocky

Hi Rocky,
thanks for the even more in-depth thoughts - really appreciate that.
http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1036326
here is another version of this image, this time low angle, vertical. You will find the rules of 3rd. I thought it would be a good idea to do a color version as well after publishing this one.
Thanks for your comments on my portfolio. Will check yours soon.
Thilo

WOW, Thilo! That is absolutely amazing! I do love the vertical orientation of that one. Plus the RoT is perfect! Wow, what a fantastic shot. Great B&W conversion too. It achieves what I imagined about this shot. It's a favorite for sure. Thanks for sharing. ~ Warmest regards, Rocky

I like it as it is Thilo, Not sure if rule of third or any other rule is static, this is photography which the rule is .. there is no rules :0) I like the wide angle effect in here, Can't be any better IMHO, Very well done, Regards,
