About Dancers at the end of their number, holding a pose. From the Angus Minstrels 2005 show.

I knew this pose was coming up, so i was getting into position, when they took their positions and the lights went out. I caught this one frame in the half dimmed light, so it was drasticaly underexposed. There was barely enough information captured for my Photoshop skills to repair, as most of the colour was lost in the orange glow of the lights, and the luminosity was very low. I managed to stretch out the histogram to balance out the exposure, and I applied a gradient map to produce the stronger gradient and deep low tones. I chose a cool blue for the highlights as I felt it brought out a slightly haunted, melancholic air that went with the dance they had performed.

There were some awkward elements that have been cloned out, leading to some reconstructive work being required on two of the dancers.

This is most likely the heaviest manipulated image i have posted, but I think it was worth it. The image had been written off and not was not sold as part of the souvenir cd, so I am pleased to have been able to salvage this.

Please enjoy it and tell me your thoughts. All criticisms and compliments are equally welcomed!

I think this is a fantastic shot and I'm amazed at the work you put into it to save it. Great job!

It sounds as though you have put a lot of work into it and it was definitely worth it!
