No uncertainty about the origin of their name here! Lovely image Dave! I like the different tones of dark-, red- and light brown. The landscape is very similar to some areas in South Africa and Namibia! Regards
Joggie

Nice shot Dave !!! Great composition and really healthy looking deer too.... I like the colors and tones, and the feel of motion as this herd passes by - I really like this a lot -7/7

Best wishes,
Michele~

Wonderful shot of this herd of what looks like pronghorn antelope to me, Dave.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:143447} 5/19/2007
Yep, checked it out online...Pronghorns.

Richard Koth   {K:2517} 5/19/2007
Excellent photo, but they are NOT deer. They are Pronghorn Antelope. In reality they are not really an antelope or a deer but a seperate species all together. Fastest animal on land in North America. I think only the Cheetah is faster. (I may be wrong on that) Awesome photo!!!

Richard Koth   {K:2517} 5/19/2007
Oops, Shirley beat me to it.

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thank you, Shirley. Where would I be without you keeping me constantly straight? I know the difference between a cat and a dog... and a possum... but after that, it's all lost on me.

I'm glad you corrected me.

Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thanks, Robert. I appreciate both you and Shirley giving me a clue. I'm totally clueless on species. I just saw the white tails and figured....

Best wishes,
Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Cripes, clueless isn't the word for it... I really need to work on this sometimers disease... I mean RICHARD!

Dave.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:143447} 5/19/2007
Well, I wouldn't have known this either, Dave, except I had photographed some of these at Yellowstone years ago, and asked what they were.:)

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thank you, Joggie. When I decided on this photo, I actually thought about some of your landscapes! I actually was only working this photo from my archives because I bought an over-sized printer and wanted to see how the largest format came out (13X19). It was the first one I printed. So I decided to throw it into my portfolio.

Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thank you, Michele... maybe they look healthy because they aren't deer after all. Ooops.

Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thank you, Barbara... no wonder you don't have any of these kind of deer... LOL... because I now find out their not deer at all.

Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
Thank you, kindly, Dear Viola!

Best wishes to you,
Dave

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/19/2007
No, no, no, young lady... it was ME who said they were deer... you only believed me.. LOL

Paul Lara   {K:81919} 5/20/2007
Oh, wow, Dave. What childhood memories this brings.
At least once a year, we'd drive from west Texas to my Aunt's house in Eastern Washington (Spokane).

One of the few things I enjoyed in the back seat with older brother and older sister, was being on the look-out for antelope throughout Wyoming. I loved scanning through those endless oceans of grass for a single glimpse of these beauties.

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/20/2007
Thanks Paul, now that I think of it, northenr NM is chock full of Antelope. I used to watch many running across the range between Clayton and Raton, the shortcut from Dallas to Denver.

Barbara Kite   {K:12575} 5/20/2007
Dave you are most welcome, that is funny neather of us new they wasn't deer.

Dave what kind of soft ware do you work with?

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/20/2007
Barbara:

I use Adobe Photoshop 7. Thinking about going to CS2 version but can't yet bring myself to do it.

Alicia Popp   {K:84964} 5/21/2007
Wowwwwww... qué foto!!!
Me gusta el dinamismo que tiene la imagen, los colores de los animales y de los pastos!
Felicitaciones!

Barbara Kite   {K:12575} 5/21/2007
Hello Dave , I am thinking about some new soft ware, when I get the money, but have to save longer, do you think CS2 IS better than CS3, I wonder what the differents is in these two.

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 5/21/2007
Sorry Barbara but I am not that familiar with either CS2 or 3... CS3 just came out (I think) so maybe you can get a better deal on CS2. Or maybe even find PS7 on E Bay for a good price, just be careful, some of those people are shylocks when it comes to software.

Dave
