Interesting and very painting like, great DoF and colors. NJ

Roger Skinner   {K:66266} 5/20/2007
beautiful spring colours... as we head to winter over here

Dave Arnold   {K:55654} 5/20/2007
Very cool flower, whatever it is. I love the depth of field in this... Was in TX two weeks ago, wish I had had the time to shoot some of the blooming wildflowers.

At least I got warm while I was there, though.

Very beautiful, Paul!:)

Surely a very unique flower, one of the most unique I ever seen! Good shot even under the not best lighting support, you manage it well. Perchaps I only can ask for a bit better focus, a bit more sharpness I mean on the main flower, not big deal ofcaurse, the image is pretty good (6)
Best regards!

Paul -- The color is subtle & unusual; coupled with the detail makes this one an eye popper. I really like it and the selective focus balanced with the off-set composition works perfectly.
--Best to you, Jan

As close as I was to the flower, I wanted to stop down to F 11 or 16, but there just wasn't enough available light in the fading evening sky.

Thanks for your comment, John.

It's a Mexican Hat, a type of coneflower that grows across most of the US

Paul Lara   {K:82912} 5/20/2007
This flower only grows in North America, John.
It's a coneflower referred to in Texas as a Mexican Hat (because it is sort of shaped like a sombrero hat).

Artfully executed. Just beautiful. I've been capturing shots of lots of flowers lately, and I wish I'd taken this one. :)

Paul Lara   {K:82912} 5/29/2007
Wow! What high praise, Antonia. Thank you!!

~~GRIN~~... Well, lounging near the oak tree gave this composition... Nice oak tree ;)))

Love this Paul... The DoF and colours are beautiful...:)))

Excellent Sir...:)

Onie...

The DOF is SOOOO shallow it almost looks super-imposed! Cool! Love the colors.

Paul Lara   {K:82912} 6/5/2007
The other flowers were a foot or more away, and while this wasn't a macro lens, this lens at closest focus does have a fairly shallow DOF (as evident by the fact that only portions of the flower are in crisp focus).

reza goudarzi   {K:6776} 7/31/2007
beutiful flower dear paul...is this the name of it?
regards,
reza.

Paul Lara   {K:82912} 7/31/2007
Yes, Reza, this is a coneflower called Mexican Hat (at least here in Texas).

Thanks for your comment.
