You should be able to buff that out.

John Hatz   {K:156912} 6/3/2007
Poor little beetle... but that excactly gives you a great photo Andre, and even I could preffere that in greyscale or even sepia here the soft colors works well and adds to the sad feeling of the image - subject.
regards!

Nice capture ...........

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/3/2007
Hi James,
Exactly, some of that Macquire's wax and it will come up looking good as new :)
Andre

Thanks for the comment Yazeed. I'm glad you like it!

Hi John,
Thanks for the comment and visit. I do have sepia versions of both of these prepared and I will probably post both of them too, rather than attach them. I agree with you. A sepia tone to this one adds a different feeling. It does work well.
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/3/2007
Thanks Paul,
Yeah, they make great subjects. There is a lot of old character in these cars. It's like the spirit of their owners are all around them. Pure nostalgia!

I think the slight desaturation was a good choice, otherwise I think the greens of the foliage would overpower the the car. Well done.

Omer Motiwala   {K:1816} 6/3/2007
goood capture :)

Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:22148} 6/3/2007
It's getting deep in the ground too Andre, I wonder is it a home for some techie squirrels, foxes or other wildlife. Cool stuff. NJ

Kes     {K:19764} 6/4/2007
Great composition with the lines of the car leading the eye into the shot...but I still prefer the other shot. I think I liked the green sunlit leaves in it better.

What's this fellow think about you stalking his old cars?

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/4/2007
Hi Richard,
Yes, I think I know what you mean. In the previous post the greens are a bit stronger, but it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue in that image as it would be in this one.
Another commenter mentioned that it would look good in sepia. (probably for the reason you mentioned) I do have one prepared in sepia which I will post later on.
Thanks,
Andre

Thanks Omer,
I appreciate the visit and comment.

Thanks Andrzej,
I didn't scare anything out of it that day, but you never know what is living in there :)
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/4/2007
Thanks Kes,
Yes, I think the light was more interesting in the other shot too. I noticed the light in the trees in the background afterwards. It adds a bit more dimension to it.
I think he just figures I'm a crazy city feller, and can't figure out what I see in all that old junk :)
He is a great old guy that works on his farm all the time. When my brother and I went up in mid April this year, we met him while he was working in a ditch, dragging logs out. He was all by himself and loving every minute of it. Honestly, the guy must be near 90 years old now :)

Excellent capture of the old bug, Andre! I like your crop, and the details and texture you've got here.
Dave.

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/6/2007
Thanks Dave,
When you look close, you can see that the origial badges and chrome are all intact. A good indication of the lack of vandalism in the area.

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/7/2007
Thanks Biljana,
Yes, there are still many here in Canada that are in daily use. Also a lot of very old restored Beetles. Also many "Hot Rod" types.

Fadel J   {K:13747} 6/9/2007
Still a legend even in this shape, another nice shot Andre! Where did you say this graveyard is? :)

Frank Beer   {K:10112} 6/10/2007
Very interesting, Andre.
New life inside developed and the old beetle has got a new destination. I think this version looks more dynamic than the other one.
Best regards, Frank

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/14/2007
Thanks Fadel,
The cars are located about 200 miles north east of Toronto. The reason that they have stayed in relatively good condition, (considering the time gone by) is that it is a private lot where there are really no visitors. The only reason that I am able to get some shots of these is that I have known the farmer since I was 12 years old. That old truck that you see in some of my images was actually the first vehicle that I ever drove. We kept it in one gear and went about 2mph over the fields while the farmer spread hay around for the cows.
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/14/2007
Thanks for visiting these cars Frank,
I think I prefer the 3/4 view too. But, I like the light in the trees on the other image. I could have taken hundreds of shots :):)

Herbie still lives!!!! Excellent close crop on a great diagonal perspective. I love the muted tones which gives an additional air of age to this wonderful representative of an age gone by and a much loved car. You have had excellent milage out of this 'graveyard' my friend and I feel your love of this place every time you post an image of the old 'ghosts' Well done to you Andre, great shooting.......Ray

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 6/20/2007
Thanks again Ray,
I'm pleased to read this comment especially when you talk about being able to feel the emotion coming through in the images. I go in and take these pictures without disturbing anything around the vehicles. It's funny, even though there is nobody else around, you feel like you have to whisper around the cars. Just like in a graveyard.
Notice how even though this car has been here for more than 35 years, the emblems and chrome have not been vandalized.
Andre
