Lovely scene, beautifully photographed with your Leica M8! How are you finding it? I've heard mixed reports... I have an M3... I've just bought a replacement light meter for it as my old one broke, so I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the next few months...

Patrick, I find the M8 by looking deep withing my camera bag! sorry, could not resist playing with an idiom...The M8 is much what I wish the R9 was, lighter and far easier to focus in dim light. I have not found any difficulty with the IR sensitivity, in fact I exploit it for landscapes. Like most digitals, the screen can be invisible in bright light (not to worry in GB ;-/ ?) Its quick enough for me to take rapid shots (but maybe not sports). I just wish wide angles would stay wide. The damn 1.34 magnification that is so common is very frustrating at the wide end of the range. Keep the Euro going up and I may not be able to afford another lens with out robbing a casino! Cheers. Hey John...Love this shot. I'm up in that area all the time. Where exactly was it shot? Aprox miles from bottom freeway??? or is this one of your hike till you drop locations hehehehe! Laurie

Laurie - if this required hiking....I'd be dead. Get off the 5 at Frazier Park and head up to the top of Mt Pinos. There are signs and its about a 30 minute drive with a 4000 ft gain. At the top/end of the road is a parking lot. You are at, I think 8800 feet. At the far end of the lot is a building and just beyond that is the meadow with this shot and my Pinus friend. google earth shows the lot at 34 deg 48 min 48 second n and 119 deg 7 min and 36 seconds west. Drop me a note if you need more help.

Will definitely have to check it out up there next spring. I have friends that live up there so they alert me when it starts looking pretty. Wish the poppies and all the color over the pass would come back, but unfortunately with this drought it seems it will be another few years for good spring foliage. Take Care!
