I would like to see it with my own eyes. I put it in my 2008 to-do list. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Cathy,
Yes a great shot of our world wonder. Pity that under the hood it needs fixing!
All the same it is unique and a marvel to behold.
Chris

This is one of the best photos I've seen of this exquisite architecture....you even got the moon...absolutely superb Cathy

Yazeed Jalili   {K:30663} 7/9/2007
Woow . Amazing ...........

Cathy Carroll   {K:27313} 7/9/2007
Thanks Larry, that means a lot coming from you.
It was one of those weekends-a romantic getaway, strolling around the harbour late at light, when my husband (of 30 years) noticed the moon was rising over the water.
We had entered a "lucky dip" with an on line company that we book our accomodation through, not knowing where we would end up. We drew a magnificent motel on the Harbour! So we ran back to the motel, grabbed the tripod and spent a glorius hour recording this magnificent evening. Sometimes life is just too delicious!!! CC

Chris, Funny you should say that, we watched a doco on that subject yesterday and thought of you guys. What a joke! I had no idea. I liked the bit when they said they pay "catchers" to catch the dancers when they vault off stage do they don't crash into the walls in the nonexistent wings!
Got home safely, no snow over the mountains, see you for coffee Wed 9-10. Drive safely. CC

Congratulations Australia! It has always been a favorite structure of mine though I've only seen photos.

And such a very nice night shot. Your exposure is just perfect, Cathy. Nice moonlit clouds, too!

Best to you,
Dave

Wow, you say you have not mastered landscape, yet this night/land/citscape is pretty damn good!! I am curious to know how long you exposed this, as that moon has moved ever so slightly, yet the Opera House is still in good focus..

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59903} 7/22/2007
Great view

Stunning, Great night shot! And yes I have just started my holidays and promise you some warm summer scenes to help defrost your winter........Though I am not quite sure your Aussie winters are the same as our Canadian winters :)

Cathy Carroll   {K:27313} 8/1/2007
Thanks so much Chris, I was quite happy with this one, sometimes good photo opportunities present themselves out of the blue, its just up to us to capture them.
So Canada gets colder than Aus, cold is cold if you ask me! I know I shouldn't complain when the gates freeze shut or the cars slide off the streets on the black ice-it is nothing compared to what you experience. But when I am sitting here shivering its nice to have some warm images to view. Looking forward to them. CC

Excellent night picture and specially taken this beautiful Sydney Opera House...I hope to go someday so far to see it in person..!! great picture...

Joe Pollard   {K:130} 8/10/2007
My gosh, this capture is beautiful! I've always wanted to visit Australia. The exposure of the building is perfect and its brightness is a great contrast against the night sky! I recently went digital myself and bought a Nikon D70. Great work!
Regards
Joe
