About I just bought a Canon 400D and I had to try my hand at shooting fireworks. I took this shot at Powell Gardens on 7/6. This is my first REAL try at shooting fireworks. Any Critiques would be appreciated. It is the only way I can get better. TIA

Excellent long exposure and the result is PERFECT, very clear and sharp...magic clarity on the smaller fireworks sparks....amazing...oh you really use with increadible clarity so small details...these looks like smaller than a pixel! PERFECT!!!

Thank you for you comments John... I too was impressed that I was able to cature such detail on my first time shooting fireworks and on a new camera to boot. I just lucked out. I have to give thanks to all the posts I read on UF.

WOW.....your first time? Well I bet if I'll have also my first time I will mess a lot with the fireworks and I'll distroy .....tones of photos! hahahahaha!!!

I think you nailed the exposure - only trick with these is if you should include any of the ground to get a sense of scale. I see the top of a tent, but I get the feeling that the bottom was kind of boring (not like Manhattan or anything) - so probably a good call on the composition.

Michael, Thank you for your post. I wanted to get more of the sky and the ground, but when I found out that my cheap little tripod would only let me sit at landscape. I put as much of the ground as I could, but still clipped the top of the fireworks. ( That'll teach me. I'll bring my better tripod next time. I really lucked out with the quality since this was my first real stab at fireworks.

No problem, now that you got it right I can replicate your efforts. Thanks!
