About Portrait of my son-in-law in front of Max's Deli in Corte Madera, CA. Very cold and he was giving me the "look".

Joel's 'look' makes him look like the actor Jeff Goldblaum!! Thought you said the weather was warm Jan?!!
Could it be thats your brain is tired from the holiday?

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 7/18/2007
The weather was perfect-- 70's during the day and low 50's at night. It was early evening, we were in short sleeves and quite cold. I will take that over the near 100 degrees at our home in Maryland. --Jan

All is well for everyone in the family, including Joel. Joel was not happy with USEFILM and moved over to another photo web site.
--Best to you, Jan

Michele -- Thanks for re-discovering me! :)
I have been travelling extensively and have a number of trips still planned in late July through August. In other words my commenting and posting has been hit or miss for months and I will not get back into the swing of things until September, when my travels slow down. Sorry I have not been around much; it really slows down my ability to view pictures and comment.
Sorry!

Thanks, Michele. Unfortunately only one of the four trips so far was personal/pleasure time.
The remainder are also work-related.
Sigh.....

Pimarily, I am glad to find another of the G7 clan here on Usefilm.
Interesting portait: with the crop done the way you have executed it, my inclination is to say "well I don't really like this."
BUT, what effect does it have like so? It is a mustery for one thing, rather disarming for another and then too somewhat menacing. Really, you give no option but to view your portrait in this manner. If this is what you had in mind, then Bravo. It did the job.
A given of course is the image quality that in shooting and seeing, I never fail to be delighted by the quality. So fellow G-sevener, Well done!

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 8/17/2007
Thanks, Alan.. The results and objective were intentional with an emphasis on the eyes, the shadow around the eyes and the forehead and hairline. I felt that this would make the portrait more dramatic.
--Best regards to you, Jan

Alan Mead   {K:1984} 8/17/2007
And so you succeeded, the image is mysterious and menacing. Well done.
