About I'm a bad friend :(

I'm a month too late in wishing Gayle Hardman a Happy Birthday. It was on the 21st June. You'd think I'd know since I made a card for her last year and I'm supposed to be her friend.

She never forgets mine.

I suck and I'm sorry Gayle :(

hey, some of us lose our figure as we age,and some of us lose our memories!...hehehe....think i read that Ginko helps memory loss....

Thanks for the sunflowers which ARE in my top 3 fave flower choices...most kind of you to post this for me and seems symbolic of "me n' you"...which is which doesn't matter cause we be like 2 peas in a pod! ;>

i have an email reply sitting in rough draft as i was interrupted,so will send it on later tonight...

hmmm...should i forgive you,or stretch it out a bit longer to see what else the guilt brings?....bahaaaaaaaaaaaa

you be a nutter,but i luvs ya,Cookie.....hugs,gayle

I wouldn't blame you for dragging it out Gayle. I am absolutely horrified with myself and hoping like crazy that this goes a little way to make up for it.

Looking forward to your email. I'm going out now to buy me a pallet load of Ginko....

Luvs ya right back!

Well, if it were my birthday, I'd be happy to receive this a YEAR late!

Now here's the critiquey sort of bit: the concept is fabulous. Did you adjust the colour of the right flower? It looks very orangey compared with the other one and compared with sunflowers we get in Spain. The water drops really add another dimension. I'd be nit-picking to comment on the crop, but I'll do it anyway: you might consider making the dark centres of the flowers equi-distant from the edges of the image, although I do appreciate that this might make the image look too fabricated or perfect. You might also consider upping the detail in the centres of the flowers (I think it's there cos you shot it raw).

But hey, I like this one.

AJ

Thanks for the great critique AJ! To answer your question: I actually didn't adjust the colour at all, BUT, I did make a Curves adjustment which I guess made it a tad more vibrant. It is in fact an orange sunflower. We get red ones here too. I believe a dye is added at some point during growth.

As for the detail, I've lost much of the surface texture due to resize for web compression unfortunately. But the original size makes an impressive print. I've sent a digital copy to Gayle for keepsies as well.

You make a great point about crop. I should have composed better in camera. As is, I can get a decent 8x12, but as you say, if I crop a little from the left, it would likely be better.

Thanks again. I appreciate your time!

Cheers,
Rina.
