It is a good shot to demonstrate fast shutter, action freezing abilities, but it lacks a subject. Had there been something or someone sitting on those rock, or maybe a fish flying with the breeze, the picture would be better. I like Your title, helps to understand why You took the shot. Any photoshop used in making the wave blue, or is it natural? Cheers and good luck

Hi Mirek,
Thank You for the critique, its the reason I joined Usefilm. You are right a subject would have made a world of difference. Also I think I have sharpened it too much. With regards to the waves and PS work. This is the way it came out. I did a bit of levels sat and contrast in PS and also adjusted the shadows and highlights for more details in the foreground,and darkened the sky but thats it. I think this led to the blueish tint in the water being even more. Im attaching the original for your convenience. Once again thanks for your crit, I appreciate it.

Good shot, Stef... well, I think the rock and the wave frozen in time IS the subject. It has good visual impact (imho) and well, photography/art is all about light and capturing the eye, so to me, this works quite well. I might say that a somewhat lower angle would have been interesting so as to see more of the water against the sky. Cheers, Gary

Thanks for the positive comment. You are right with the lower angle, it would definitely have added more effect on this shot. It was a bit of a painstaking exercise this shot, as I didnt always have good footing, and to get the right wave at just the right moment can take some waiting.Once again thanks for the crit, I appreciate it.

I alaways love spashing, is amazing the drops and here you get the water so detailed!!! Amazing photo for a so wide aperture, how on earth do you get it with so perfect focus!!! GREAT! Rocks looks well even without the best lighting help and also that azure color (that goes also to the splashed water) is beautiful, a so simple composition and a so perfect result dear Stef. Complements!

To tell you the truth, I dont really know. I was about 20m from that rocks when I took this shot and needed the apperture in the lowlight conditions. I guess I was lucky.
