About One of the images featured in my last montage of Madawaska River Wildlife.
I came across this White Tailed Doe feeding by the edge of the water. I was in my kayak gently floating out of the mist towards the deer. She didn't get too excited, but she did back into the grass a bit to see if I would come any closer.

Very nice capture of her, Andre! I like the reflection, too!
Dave.

Thanks again Dave,
I took a few of her in similar positions by the water, until she went and hid in the grass. When I took this shot, I didn't realize she had some kind of plant in her mouth.

Yes, a nice reflection, Andre, with a composition allowing "room to move" for the eye. Looks like the deer is thinking "hey, you float!" :)

What a beautiful and exciting moment, Andre! I also like the low point of view from the Kayak!

Hi Kes,
Yeah, she was a little confused, not quite afraid, but not really at ease either. It is amazing how a lot of different animals will let you get quite close to them when you are in a kayak, going slow. They don't seem to see you as a threat. Some are even curious. The Loons will actually come closer for a visit. The Herons are still pretty cautious.

Thanks Eb,
I'v getting a big kick out of doing this sort of thing. I should have used a kayak years ago to sneak up on wildlife. As you say, the perspective is quite unique. It's almost like you are coming up out of the water, like Martin Sheen in Apocolypse Now. :)

Thanks Allen,
My wife currently has this one up as her screen saver. I had a very productive couple of hours that day. All the animals were out to play :)
