great abstract! powerful use of lines.

Beverly Gustafson   {K:3058} 5/11/2003
Very Cool! Love the way the light has brought out the texture of the feather. It almost has a metalic look. Nice one.

all centering
to hide a world behind
or to divide day and night
:
drawing a line
and multiplying it
it's easy as that
and as beautiful as yours

Interesting Mary. The darkness through the light lines is very pleasing.

I like this a lot! As Beverly said, it has an almost metallic look - could be the grille of some fantastic car... but nature is always more beautiful than artifice. Given that the 'ribs' of the feather shoot off at angles, I'm glad you didn't make the central quill completely vertical - much more dynamic this way! I'm can't decide if the shadow in the lower-right is distracting or not. Beautiful shot!

Thanks to all for your feedback on this image and my other contribution to the Lines project. I want to expore more feathers, particularly a cardinal if I can get one to molt a bit!

Dirck, that shadow you noticed is actually the natural coloring of this blue jay feather. I toyed with cropping it entirely, but ended up choosing this view. Your comment is very helpful, though, as I consider future feather shots.

Great abstrac shot with very interligent use of light to shape the forms of the element.

Looks like another feather on your cap Mary Sue. Kidding aside, it does remind me of a metallic feather. Interesting texture.

Lovely composition! Nice diagonals! Very good image!

Mary Sue, if you would care to e-mail me your e-mail address, I would be happy to tell you how I converted my Canon D-30 to a pinhole. Harlan Heald, hheald@alltel.net
