On 30 JUL 2007, HOF 49ers Coach Bill Walsh finally succumbed to the luekemia he'd been battling for years. He died at his home in Woodside, CA, near the Stanford campus.
By 1 AUG 2007, as the 49ers began their first week of training camp, this impromptu memorial could be found at the entrance to their HQ/training facility in Santa Clara (a parking lot away from the Great America amusement park).
The left is a detail of the left section, the center most of the middle, and the right a close detail on that wrapping around to the right. Again, photographed on 1 AUG 2007 (the helmet-on-field poster must have been placed by the team, because it shows the memorial BW decal that they plan to wear on their helmets just above the NFL decal).
