About "Moonlite Welding"... what better place to shoot under a half moon and a street light? This building sits on Railroad Avenue, across from the historic Castaneda Hotel, seen in other photos in my portfolio. It was probably built in the 1890s, as were most of the buildings in this area.

This was one of many varying exposures of this particular view of Moonlite Welding in old town Las Vegas, New Mexico. I chose this one because I like it's darkness, as if it was intentionally vignetted and burned in PS. It wasn't.

This was shot with my new Sigma 10-20 MM wide angle lens. I devoted my whole night to using this new lens on its first outing.

Exposed at 1/10th of a second, ISO 1600, f5.0. Shot in monochrome.

Very moody work ... Dave (or shall i resort to Captain) ... love the dim light and darkness ... also somehow unexpected details at places ...

Amazing image, the subject is good and...spooky I can say but the most amazing thing here is the lighting, the way you exposure that image and gives that mood, absolutely PERFECT!!!!!

Looks like some character is just about to walk into view and spoil the silence. Very atmospheric

Dave Arnold   {K:55551} 8/12/2007
Thank you, Gary. What was so nice about this shoot at 3:00 AM is that I didn't see another single person or car.... not even the cops. Very peaceful. I had the whole downtown to myself.

Best to you,
Dave
