That is a great photo already, the big wild bird shoted very nicely with excellent focus and details plus the excellent lighting support you had from the sun, and at the end you paste there the tiny hummerbird and gives very nicely the increadibly difference between these two 'guys' unique composition, works nicely!

Marcus Armani   {K:36597} 8/11/2007
Thanks, though I did not paste the humming bird into the shot, he was buzzing the hawk...

John Hatz   {K:156912} 8/11/2007
oh my....that is difficult to think it...that makes your shot even more amazing...and also you get a freezed wing of the hummerbird...all togather... !!!!!

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:100828} 8/11/2007
Must have been a male hawk then . . . nothing moves a male quicjer than the promise of a hummer! :P

Marcus,

A truley amazing shot. This has got to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You do manage to put yourself in the right place at the right time. I have heard it said that luck is the place where preparation and opportunity meet. In that sense, what a lucky shot!!

Congratulations, Marcus. You really do inspire me.

Todd

Doyle,

Oh, behave!!!

Todd ;^)

Marcus Armani   {K:36597} 8/11/2007
Thanks Todd, You know its funny but sometimes you dont know a good shot until you get home, I was at a good distance waiting for this guy to fly when the hummer came buzzing around, I didnt thing anything of it, nor did the hawk as he was focused on me. had I known that I would have captured a face to face I may have moved in a bit closer, as i was positioned where I thought I would get a good flyby, and basiclly taking pot shots during the wait, had I move in closer I could have taken a much sharper better exposed shot.
But I did after looking at it think it was funny seeing this little guy defend his area..
Thanks again..

Marcus Armani   {K:36597} 8/11/2007
LOL Doyle you really missed your calling as a comedian..
I realize something now, when I was engaged in a long conversation with you, twice talking about this and that, I have noticed that right in the middle of a sentence you say I have to go click..
LOL, Ok I get it now.. Lucky guy :P

Bill Telzerow   {K:4993} 9/21/2007
Marcus; I know I say this a great deal about your bird shots, but in this case WOW!!! How cool... Quick question...Shutter speed to stop the little guys wings?

Oh BTW; if I didn't say it...WOW!!!

Cheers,

Bill

Marcus Armani   {K:36597} 9/21/2007
Thanks bill, it was almost 4000 at F/5, I did notice from the past when shooting HBs at F/5 anything over 2000 will freeze the wings, though a hummer alone IMO looks best with a bit of wing blur, in this case i was waiting for the hawk to fly when this guy started flying circles around him, was actually kind of funny to see...
Take Care.
Marcus
