About Not really that sure how Dunstanbargh castle is really spelled, so Dunny will do.

Got this shot on a recent trip up to see Danny Brannigan and Keith Saint, both good friends, excellent photographers and usefilm regulars - cheers guys, had a top day... was quite knackering mind!

this is a traditional view of the castle, some odd boulders in the foreground and a bit of the old sea foam

hope you like it

Geordie Jester   {K:35} 8/24/2007
Great shot. I really like it's mood.

If you don't mind me asking, how far off the ground is the camera when you took this shot ?

ade mcfade   {K:12388} 8/24/2007
hi Geordie,

it was a few inches away from the nearest rock, I've got a tripod that goes flat to the ground, the legs are very variable - so just spread them fully out and tried lots of positions before getting this one.

slippy as hell there!!!

Mario Šimunović   {K:3387} 8/24/2007
Very dramatic shot! Mystic ambience, great tonality and composition! Well done!

ade mcfade   {K:12388} 8/24/2007
hi Bartosz

not that many effects really, none at all in fact.

the shot's was taken with 5 stops of ND grad on teh sky and a polariser. the polariser was rotated to get the effect on the stones, then in photoshop I played with curves to make the sky more dramatic and then did a little dodge and burn on the rocks to emphasize the contrast.

the mono conversion was done using Channel mixer with the bliue channel ar about -20, the other 2 making it up to 100%
