Hey Jim, see if you can find a plant with aphids on it, you will get some great shots similar to this but with a touch more interest. I love the cross hatch pattern on the thistle, great capture, but I'm not sure on the straight in with the stem approach, more of an angle would add more impact. Great result my friend.

Excellent macro, Jim, with beautiful color and nice detail... I like your choice of composition/crop, going horizontal rather than vertical. I would probably be tempted to play even more with a couple of different angles, just for curiosity, but this one definitely adds interest to the overall effect of the shot... Great job.
