I don't know what kind it is either James. The image came out really nice though. I like that real tight DOF on this one. It kind of slows him down even more somehow. :)

Mahassa - Thanks. The background is exactly as it came out of the camera. If you are asking about the colors in the background, what you are seeing is called chromatic aberation. This is due to an imperfection in the lens or (more accurately) due to the way that light bends as it passes into and then out of the glass (lens). The different frequencies of light bend slightly differently and so land at spread locations. At least that's how I read it.

Mahassa - The ground is very old concrete. There is stuff (moss and such) growing on it and dirt of course. The exposed parts are very smooth and shiney from so many years of wear. The odd angle of the sun and the shade from the surrounding trees gave it this wonderful feel. No PS necessary (just the way I like it).

EXCELLENT! I like the focus here, using a wide aperture (wow...I though that is f/2.8) you make a nature's macro that is very closed to be an artwork abstract! cool result the colored worm agaist the grey ground!

John - Thanks. The light was really unusual. The sun was getting low and I was under a canopy of just a few trees. So it's mostly ambient light from what was still a fairly bright sky. Very favorable lighting.
