Thanks Gustavo, At first I thought it might be too plain and simple, but then I noticed how nice the ripples in the water looked leading up to the thin horizon. The more I look, the more I like it. Andre

Well. I am the first to comment on this one. My first impressin was that it is a winter shot and actually I`m still thinking so. Very nice image anyway, very soft. Very well composed, too. Regards. Tap

Thanks Tap, Sometimes first impressions are hard to get out of our heads. In fact it is not a winter scene, but heavy fog lifting off the river. I took this one about an hour before my last post. The sun was not as much a factor. Both were taken from a kayak. That helps the perspective. Andre

Thanks Stan, I like to think that it is one of those images where "less is more" :) At least I hope it works that way. Andre

Thanks Alicia. I'm glad you like it. It is a little simple, but I like the mood created by the barren look. Andre

Andre, I'm giving up on shooting fogs on Madawaska, you've beaten me up with this - it's so soft, appealing and artistic impression. Cheers, NJ

Thanks Andrzej, :) As you know, shooting fog and mist is mostly down to getting out of bed early:) Whoever gets up first probably gets the best shot that day :) There seems to be a very short window of opportunity inbetween when the dark leaves and the sun gets too high. I think taking shots from low down in the kayak has a lot to do with the pleasing perspective. Andre

Well, Andre, that's the kind of image that once again doesn't try any extraneous "beautification" but simply tells a true story. Quite intriguing to see that fog and the snow - it implies and enhances the overall silence of the atmosphere. Especially the snow ripples generate an endless perpective, something like a silent path to the destination that you refer to.

Hi Nick, Thanks for the nice comment. It seems a few people have mistaken the foggy water for snow. If I didn't take the image myself, I probably would have said the same thing. :) Aside from the Snow/Water confusion, I agree with you on the projection of silence in the image. I think that is what appeals to me about it. Andre

Thanks Kes, I guess we can see this one many different ways. I like the quietness and peacefulness. Some people could read desolation and loneliness I suppose. Andre

Great! Then you converted it to snow just photographically, Andre! To me it was the fact that the ripples are rather soft and that they lack the certain translucence of water, but now that you say, I recall that the lakes here around look quite similar in winter!
Anyway, it makes it also a bit more frosty to me then, which perfectly fits the general atmosphere!

Oh, and yes, the tangible absence of any noise makes it very special. Something like a "long sleeping time".
