Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:96722} 12/2/2007
I think that the stairs and the pavement in the front lost a bit of their contours, Diego, and so perhaps for this capture it could be also nice to stand nearer the constructions with the bows and turn them to a dominating element here.

But this doesn't mean that the composition is bad this way, not at all. Quite the contrary, it enhances the perspective of something deeply strong. Im am fascinated by the sharpness of the details on the series of bows that lead me to the blue of the sky, and the threatening clouds. A metaphor?

You managed to depict a rather empty place with only some few elements that find their maxcimum strength in purity. And this is what I see here, perhaps also because I am very influenced from all the ancient Greek ideas. The best ideas are abstract and pure, and the best monuments for them are better kept also pure, which does happen on this image. And the idea behind this monument, the Olympic Games, survived thousands of years as opposed to other ideas, like empires and the like, that are already dead. Nowadays they try to commercialize them too - O tempora, o mores!

Here I return to the metaphor - how many empires keep on trying to destroy the purity and superiority of intellectual values? The news of everyday show us the same empires based on power and matter, trying to eliminate what will at the end remain: The pure products of human mental work.

Not in the plenty is the good, but in the good is the plenty, as they used to say in those times.

Very good work,

Nick

Diego Bullita   {K:15023} 12/2/2007
hi dear Nick,
thanks for your detailed and technical commentary,
your criticism has many useful advice on the implementation of a photo,
and after reading goes beyond technique to search for a deeper meaning to this composition,
it is true that the scale and subtract the square much value to the property, but is also meant to be an overall view,
then I realized many more pictures with the only main structure, shortly send in usefilm,
...excuse my English to elementary...
best regards my friend

Marian Man   {K:66314} 12/2/2007

I see what you mean, Diego, and I can be only glad if my comment met your ideas somehow. One way or the other such images are invitations for reflection and interpretation, I guess.

All the best,

Nick

Patrizia Patdil   {K:3470} 1/18/2008

saluti
diego
