About I was at a party last night and when I went out on the back deck to get something to drink everyone was looking skyward. One of the guests was showing us about where we might see Comet Holmes, which has been putting appearances in the October and November skies.
No one saw it last night but many left with sore necks.
Cropped but no other post-processing.

well I hope they didnt all start talking about the size of their decks while they were there... (have you seen that vid..its hilarious)

Jan Hoffman   {K:38998} 11/18/2007
Never saw the vid, Roger but I am always looking for a laugh. I am assuming that "decks" is not quite what you have in mind. Given that, no mention of size came up while I was out there but that could have been in respect to me as an "elder". :)
--Best to you, Jan

all in the pronunciation email me and I shall send it over ..its a good larf

Jan A friend and I went out last night and I could only see it with
averted vision unaided. It looked fine through a 200mm lens.
Got good pictures with minor trailing using 100 mm at f2 and 6 seconds at
320 - 640 asa. Todays post of mine does not do it justice, I wanted to use a
wide angle for more stars. Maybe I will try again.

we didnt get sore necks but at nearly 9000 feet up is was a tad cool!

Jan Hoffman   {K:38998} 11/19/2007
John -- I don't think we were looking in the right place! Your pictures are impressive. A 9,000 foot elevation would just about kill me; I will settle for the sore neck. :) :)
--Best to you, Jan

Ahhhh . . . I see why the 'Deck' thing came up. Blue Collar Comedy tour did their version of it too. It's freekin' hilarious! Nothing beats a good deck that all your friends can party on! :P

Now, if you add overalls and a straw to chew on . . . you'd have a great UFO shot!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Jan Hoffman   {K:38998} 11/19/2007
Thanks Doyle. Roger sent me the vid (it was a segment from the Blue Collar Comedy) and I really enjoyed it. The deck was the place to be to cool off and get away from the crowd inside. But we froze out there as the temp was in the low forties or high thirties.
--Best to you, Jan

Hey Jan!.
Long time no see/speak!.
I think that this picture belongs to section ''funny''.
Because you need to think what they did the next day and I think that was lying in bed and saying to themselves: Why in the hell did I tried to watch that comet....'cause if anyone saw it they would say it right...and THEN I could watch.
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't care =).

Have a nice day,

Tycho

Jan Hoffman   {K:38998} 11/21/2007
Thanks Tycho. I did put the picture in the "humor" category. I agree with your comment-- why did I do that and get a sore neck -- and still did NOT see the comet! :)
--Best to you, Jan
