Perfect! That's it, Joggie! This I name nature photography!

Why? Because not only the colors and the shapes are greate. And also because not only the DoF is simply impressive and allows to really perceive the textures of the rock and surface of the water. But also because the composition is well thought out, which turns to be the most hard thing to achieve by most wannabe nature photographer as they do not seem to understand that one has to detach from the scene and think before the enthousiasm creates yet another needless image.

And I can see here that you didn't just shoot. No, you took into account all the given elements of the situation and turned the image to a representation of an overwhelming sight, that in turn overwhelms me!

Adding the fact that it is a stich in PS makes this achievement even greater. I would vote for at least a BIP if not for a photo of the month!

Hat off!

Nick

Eb Mueller   {K:22087} 11/24/2007
Fascinating composition with strong colour and textural contrast, Joggie! I really enjoy the way the rock face provides a lead in to the water fall, back to the emerald pool and sweep around again!

Would love to see this pool for real Joggie, going back there in June, can you tell me where this is, or keeping it a secret...loll Its looks amazing, christal clear and dreamy! Have a nice weekend, Jen

Joggie van Staden   {K:41248} 3/14/2008
Hi Jen

This is within the Meiringspoort - Take the road from Oudtshoorn to Beaufort West, Passing through Meiringspoort, about halway into the poort there is a stop on the righthand side of the road with a footpath leading from the parking area to the waterfal. Make sure you have a tripod (or a Nikon D3)- Its a narrow kloof with little sunlight but lots of opportunities for photos.

Jen van Wijn   {K:17127} 3/14/2008
This pool looks very inviting, but I suppose the water must be very cold, do people swim in it? Beginning of January I drove up to Bloem from CT, part of my family is living in Bloem, so I passed Beaufort West, this is where the Little Karoo National Park is, isnt it? Stayed in there, what a beautiful nature up there! Been in Oudtshoorn too, in October, saw the lemons and oranges, coming over the Cederbergs, could stop every minute for photo's;) Thanks for telling! Be well, Jen
