Impressive (thought-provoking) stuff! Was there a full moon illuminating the rock, or some other light source? I imagine this was quite a lengthy exposure.

AJ This photo art project is getting very complicated. The rock and bush were shot in Infrared under full sun. The sky was cut away and a recent night shot dropped behind. The colored stars were shoved to black &white and motion blurred to stretch out the trails. This is much more of what my mind saw, than what the camera saw. The rock is still at Usefilm further back in my portfolio someplace. Rock was ~ 1/30 sec. Sky was 10-30 seconds. Cheers and thanks for checking it out. John B

Hey John,
Very dramatic photo; the single sided lighting is spectacular, and I like how the star trails emphasise the geological lines. Great shot!
I can only be jealous of the M8... How do you like it?

Sorry for taking so long to reply sir, but my life has not been my own and frankly I am too lazy for my own good. I like the M8 tremendously. It is not for the financially faint of heart but it delivers quite nicely. There are none of the auto focus bells and whistles but it does do a dark image subtraction for long exposures. I guess what I like the most is the light weight, small size and intuitive (for me) controls while preserving killer optics. I find myself cropping more because the image can survive it. The longer lenses clearly show how digital sensors have less dof than film, but you can change film speed by the frame. In short, I love it. Thanks for stopping by. John B
