Hi Boss,
I haven't heard from you in a while.
This picture was taken while we were having lunch at the Savegre Lodge Restaurant.
They have a lot of feeders around the hotel.
On their grounds you can find at least 8 species of Hummingbirds. This fact is very amazing considering that in the whole state of California we only have 4 species.
Most the time they are fighting and just like Sheri Williamson says in the article published by National Geographic- January 2007- “Flight of Fancy”,
“I think the hummingbird vocabulary is 100% swear words”.
Since these guys spend almost 80% of their lives perched, it’s relatively easy to capture them.
I can't wait until I go back to Costa Rica again.
This trip was very short but also very productive.

Absolutely beautiful. The only thing that would have been nice is a faster shutter. I assume that you shot it as fast as the light and ISO would permit. Really nice and fantastic work. Awesome portfolio.

Thanks for your comment.
Most the time I use higher shutter speeds, but when it comes to hummingbirds the most appealing shots are those where you see the action on their wings. I was trying to capture that action with a low shutter speed (400).
If the opportunity shows up again, I will try higher shutter speeds, but unfortunately this lodge is 3000 miles away, so I am going to have to wait until next year.
