Nice one Jan, I like the monotone colour with this one. Also, the similar patterns made by the slats in the chairs and the railing verticals. Good eye.

Hey Jan,
nicely done my friend. The panoramic format works well here, doesn't it ? The sepia toning gives the whole image a timeless feel, I like it :)
Have a nice day & grtz,

Alain

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/9/2007
Joe -- Thanks so much for the comment. The light was weird coming from the ocean when I took this photo and the monotone is mostly the real appearance with a very slight curves adjustment.
--Best to you, Jan

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/9/2007
Alain -- Thanks so much; Mother nature mostly provided the light as the light was rather odd, reflected by the ocean. I just made a slight curves adjustment.
--Best regards to you, Jan

Thanks, Dear Srna. I love the ocean and all it offers us for inspiration.
--Best to you and all those you love, Jan

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/9/2007
Srna -- PS -- I forgot to mention that these chairs are on an outside porch facing the ocean. If it had not been so cold I would have taken a seat and watched for hours. An ice storm had just passed and my eyes were watering from the wind and the cold. I decided to take the picture and go inside and have some hot tea. :) :)

I dont think I have seen that many rocking chairs together before.. nice image well seen

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/9/2007
Thanks, Roger. Haven't you ever seen the porch of a retirement home? Loaded with rockers!
And ocean-side porches of hotels: loaded with rocking chairs!! In the summer you grab a Jack Daniels (neat or on the rocks but never mixed) and sit on the porch and make comments about those passing by. Or in my case, I guess I would take pictures. Here the chairs sit unused in freezing weather with high winds just after an ice storm; no girls in bikinis to watch.
--Best to you, Jan

I like your comment about JD.. same a scotch.. kids these days drink it with all sorts of mixers.. whats the hells the matter with 'em.. for me if its scotch its scotch.. generally with a couple of ice cubes and thats IT!!

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/9/2007

Amen!!!!

Now that is a cool shot. Great light, and the darkened backs of the chairs help them to stand out against the echoing lines of the railings in the background.

Cool shot, good choice of panaoramic and sepia. I'd have moved the pot aside though, I think.
Regards, Gary

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/10/2007
AJ -- Thanks for the kind comments. The light was weird and I liked the lines, too.
--Best to you, Jan

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 12/10/2007
Thanks Gary. Excellent comment/suggestion -- it would have been better without the pot.
I thought about moving the pot but it was quite heavy and I have a bad back. My Photo-shop skills might have been up to "removing" the pot but I decided to leave it and avoid the "spiralling trap" of altering the photo.
--Best to you, Jan

This shot is beautiful Jan. For some reason, I just picture a bunch of old men talking about baseball from years gone by. I love the composition and the color. Perfect.

Jan Hoffman   {K:38954} 2/4/2008
It amuses me that you have the same image I had when I saw these rockers. Thanks so much for your comment.
--Regards, Jan
