Great photograph! I like the color in the surrounding cliff and the way it contrasts with the blue water. Nice detail in the trees, too. Regards.

Such a great spot but it just looks like the photo has been overworked. Too much "pop". THe white of the water both big falls and the very small one mid left are blown out and the color of the red rocks just don't look real. Maybe that was your intent??? Composition works well.

Olga Giraldo   {K:2284} 1/24/2008
Sencillamente espectacular!

Steve,

thank you for your comment, I value critiques of this magnitude. Have you ever been to Sedona? the bright reds of the rocks are pretty much that color. I boosted them a bit more for posting due to the fact that you lose tons of color info when posting them to the web.

When I printed this shot out and framed it, It looks TONS better. I do thank you for pointing out the blown out water, When Popping the color I didn't notice it boosted the whites to much. I went back in and corrected them before printing.

Once again, I really appreciate and value your opinion.
Thanks so much!

My Best Regards

Sam III

Hi Sam, yes, I've been to Sedona and much of the southwest. I know what you are saying about losing pop when you post to here so understand your comment. I'll bet the print looks great. Hopefully I can get to Havasu falls one of these days.

Hi Sam! I got here via one of your comments on Debra's photos that went into some detail about framing.

I find this a striking image and love the colours. But I HATE the frame! I know it's a tricky one and different frames suit different locations. But I just don't see that the frame here complements the image at all - in fact in my view it distracts.

I do agree that frames are needed, and that's something I've learned at UF. I keep an open mind but I think something simpler would work much better here.

Outstanding shot Sam !! .. is this an HDR ? A long-exposure with an HDR ?? Unbelievable !!!

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 4/12/2008
First . . . AWESOME shutter speed (1 sec)! I happen to think the color enhancement MAKES good scenery photos and don't sense oversaturation. The blowout on the slow shutter is a toughie . . . particularly given the range. Still . . . masking them would perfect this. OR . . . adjust RAW image in layers . . . and convert to HDR through layers and selective exposure settings!

Like AJ . . . a big FAT Yech to the Frame. 7 for the image is a given, though. I would give my eye-teeth to get this in RAW and compose it as an HDR image! Never been here . . . YET.

Impressive!

Hey Brother, Thanks for the time this weekend!!! Kim and I REALLY had a great time. When I get a second I will email you the Raw file and see what you can do with this shot. I hated the frame as well! I don't know why I placed it around it, oh well to late know to undo it....lol

Best Regards
Sam!!!

We had an AWESOME time too! I'd LOVE a shot at the RAW file . . . but I'd be slow! :P
