About a second try on that subject, using cloth-pegs in perspective, some modern new and colorfull plastic pegs against the old one, the lonely woody one... with lot feallings about how people think sometimes for our older people... :-(

Debra Garside   {K:2869} 1/27/2008
A fine metaphor... the old one with so much history and character, the new colored ones just a noisy blur. Excellent! Debra

Dave Stacey   {K:115782} 1/27/2008
A striking contrast in both colours, age and style of the clothes pegs, John! Well done, and gives us something to think about.

Old and alone, but most prominent of them all. I like the symbolic figure you use. It is quite expressive, despite its simple appearance.
Well done, dear John.
Best,
M.

Great compo and beautiful contrast... Interesting about.

Olga Melissa   {K:19359} 1/31/2008
I like the quality of the image, without noise, without a speckle of dust, digital perfection! As for the subject, the second image on the same subject, you know , what comes to my mind is not the old age but the different people who become mere observes of other people's lives. They just can't become part of the reality because of their beliefs and even appearance. The other people regard them as outcasts. So they remain silent, lurking in the dark, watching with sadness the others' parties with perhaps only one optimistic thought in their minds. That maybe it is preferrable to be different rather than a part of the masses.

John Hatz   {K:140433} 1/31/2008
thanks Gustavo!

great shot!

Noemi Jurado   {K:8268} 2/1/2008
I like it! Very creative John. Excellent reflection. Wouldn't it be great to have these 3rd age Learning Centers all around, our elders still enjoy doing lots of things. I watch with how much enthusiasm my grandparents attend their weekly meetings. There is so much to learn from them.

Ziad Kadi   {K:2727} 2/1/2008
Very nicely thought and executed John. Salute

thanks God that is NOT for all the people but still some old people stay alone... sad as there people don't pay back that our grand fathers and mothers give us.....again at some times... not all...

How clever John. The focus being on the "old" pin creates great illusion on the ones up front. I may attempt this sometime ;)

John, excellent use of depth of field here (and your title is very fitting). I've never tried to take photos of such simple household items before, but you've given me an idea here.

Warmest regards ~ James
