About This ship I believe is the 5th Vessel to bear the name "HMS Ark Royal" who made a historic return to her home port of the Tyne on the 7/Feb/2008. She was built at the Swan Hunters Ship Builders yard in Wallsend in 1978 I believe and was accepted into service in 1 July 1985 havind being launched by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
