About This is the last of my Xinjiang photos that I made in the summer of 2007.

There are many interesting people to shoot photos of in Xinjiang, but it proved to be more difficult than I expected. The sun is very strong there in summertime, which causes a lot of light to reflect off of surfaces, risking overexposure in some areas of the photos.

Most of these photos were taken in and around the main square in Kashgar, the second city of Xinjiang. The exception is the photo at bottom centre, which was taken on the Karakoram Highway going down to Tashkurgan (near the Pakistan border).

Hi,James.

Bottom left is Uzbek, center looks Kyrhgyz or Kazakh (can't see the hat's ornament). Hat's name is called kolpak. The rest of the bunch looks Uigour.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Konstantin

Hi Konstantin, thanks for those corrections. Kashgar is indeed at a crossroads of different ethnic groups, and thats part of what makes it very interesting.

All the portraits are great, specia faces (not common) and so a composition of them into a frame makes a splendid work James!

A well done collage of portraits, James! Each one represents a very different individual and a very good collection of them taken all together.
Thanks for all your comments, too!
Dave.
