About The cone-shaped, metal-framed glass ceiling of an inner-city Melbourne shopping centre.

The brick chimney is part of an old gunpowder factory that was on the site, and was not permitted to be demolished. The developers of the shopping centre had to construct the shopping centre around the factory, which has now been converted into shops, as well. Consequently, the chimney had to be accommodated within the shopping centre....hence the design of the ceiling.

Have you posted that once? It seems I have given a comment before, well never the less. Excellent POV and brilliant idea. Superb work for the project.
Regards Sascha

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13452} 2/29/2008
No, Sasha, not me! :)

I only shot this image in the last week of January....I have not uploaded any images, here, since I deleted most of my portfolio back in early December.

It is a pretty well-known building, perhaps someone else has posted a similar image at some stage.

Thanks for the comment, anyway! :)

You were in Melbourne and you didn't drop us a line? nice capture Phil well done

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13452} 2/29/2008
Ooops...sorry!

Had a great time....I hadn't been there since 85, so it had changed a bit!

It was a rushed trip... stayed in Melbourne for three nights, Geelong for one, Warrnambool for one, and Swan Hill for one, and then home. :)

I took around 900 photos....I'll get around to going through them soon. :)

Thanks for the comment!

Cheers

Phil

Hi Phillip great to see you again! Trev and I were here, just weeks ago. It's an amazing drop tower. Love Melbourne, pity it's so far away, we'd spend more time there.
You have captured the scale well in this image. CC

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13452} 3/1/2008
Hi Cathy

As you may have noticed, I have not been around for a few months. I've been very busy uploading my images on to stock photography sites....making a few dollars out of them. :)

We were in Melbourne from the 19 - 22 January. We hadn't been there since 1985, so we noticed a few changes. :) A very nice city, although, IMHO, not a patch on Sydney...the harbour runs rings around the Yarra, and we've got the Opera House. :) There's the old Sydney/Melbourne rivalry rearing its ugly head. :) :) :)

However....when it comes to shopping, the three women preferred it to Sydney! They spent one full day...I mean from 9.00am to 6.00pm, shopping. :) I went off and did my own thing....like taking photos of shopping centre ceilings. :)

It's nice to hear from you! We haven't been up to Orange since last October. We're hoping to come up in April. The Autumn colours should be nice, then. :)

Take care, and thanks for the comment!
