Full marks for an excellent portrait... I can't understand why it hasn't had more ratings...

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 5/21/2003
Very good portrait, everything is great, although I think the left side of the face is a little bit dark compared to right side.

Don Loseke   {K:32503} 5/21/2003
An excellent portrait and great lighting. Interesting subject. Well done. Don.

Hi Bob. Nice expression, like the pose and the texture of the skin resulting from your side lighting. A couple of points tho, I suggest that subjects either remove their eyeglass lenses or borrow a similar pair from the opticians to avoid flare from lights. Those large lenses must have been a challenge. Also I would have turned his head so that you can't see the distortion on his face from the magnification due to his lenses. I like your vignetting effect.

Louise, you're right, these glasses were quite a challenge and a number of the photos were useless because of them. I did have him remove them for several shots but this one turned out rather well due to the light positions.

I never noticed the distortion you mentioned but now I can see what you're talking about. Good thing to keep in mind. Thanks.

This session was kind of a last minute thing so "special" lenses weren't even considered. Another good idea to keep in mind though.

An excellent B&W portrait, I think you have captured the character of the subject extremely well and the tones are perfect, well done - Richard.
