Les cuento que me gustan mucho los contrastes altos, y en el extremo, los más duros en puro y absoluto B&W, las fotos transformadas casi en dibujos.
En este caso con toques muy sectorizados de "umbral" para obtener el mismo nivel de detalle en toda la foto, me entretuve con esta interesante vista de mi pueblo, Carmen de Patagones, tratando de inspirarme en la poesía de mi amigo y escritor viedmense Marcelo Otero, incluyo la foto original que sin dudas es muy linda.

Gracias Ugo, me alegra mucho que te guste...últimamente no me conformo con la foto nada más, especialmente sí, aunque buenas, son fotos que otros podrían tomar fácilmente también. Me siento siempre tentado a buscarles algo más, nuevo, diferente, original, en fin, es un tema opinable, incluso tengo algunos críticos y detractores...:-), pero bueno, cuando se tiene la libertad, sin dudas hay que hacer lo que uno siente.

Gracias David!, me alegra que te guste, sí la foto original es muy bonita, pero últimamente siempre me tiento con ir un poco más allá de la foto, guarda, no quiero decir que los resultados deban ser mejores, ni que con una foto sin retoques no se pueda ser novedoso ni original, sino, que mi originalidad, es con estas cosas con las que la estoy buscando. :-)

It does have some certain tension especially for that bow of light at the depth behind the church. But it fails causing any stronger impression to me. Much of the depth of the scene is lost, and the result doesn't have any kind of message to me.
Perhaps less PS overload would be the better way to go, Gustavo.

I love the colors, light and clarity of the colored version, for me all of the geometry comes alive, this black and white version, lo siento mi querido amigo, but for me the brights are too bright, the darks are too dark, it loses life, shapes, and forms...but I'm not sure what your intention was, if that was your intention you carried it out well...un abrazo!!

Yes, I also guess that the search has to be there, Gustavo! We all more or less search together, and so the search is both the experiments and the discussions.
Wouldn't this one have a greater impact if the tone separation wasn't as strong and raw?

Aquí usé una herramienta del PS que se llama "Umbral", pone los píxeles en blanco o negro a partir de un umbral de luminosidad que puede variarse, el problema es que nunca el efecto se aplica armoniosamente en toda la foto, por lo que en este caso, lo apliqué con diferentes umbrales en distintas zonas de las foto para lograr un efecto parejo. En este caso quería esos contrastes tan duros y en ese sentido me gusta el resultado. Pero en la foto siguiente, busqué enfatizar los contrastes, ahora sí con escalas de grises, lo que los suaviza mucho, mirala y me contás que te parece.

Yes, it is quite obvious that the image was achieved this way, Gustavo. Threshold is much like a controlled conversion to pure black and white - maximum tonal separation and contrast between pixels, as there are no real grey tones at all but only some kind of "dithering".
A good idea to apply the filter differently on the different regions of the image. Still on many of them there is a too uniform conversion to pure black or white. Perhaps even smaller subregions would be needed in order to achieve some more differentiation. Anyway, keep on trying.

Sí, sin dudas cuanto más en detalle se trabaja, tomándo áreas más pequeñas, el efecto se logra con más homogeneidad y armonía...lleva más tiempo pero los resultados seguramente valen la pena.

And it would be nice if they would add some more controls on that filter too. So for example not a constant threshold value, but one that shifts according to the pixel itself and its surrounding pixels. Perhaps they do so in some future version, though.
