| About |
The name of this windmill is the Hare. It was named like that because of its speed. Built in 1772, it has been milling corn ever since, with a lapse of 50 years. At the end of that 50 years the top was in ruins and there were plans to demolish the Hare (as was done with many windmills at the time). But people loved her and saved her. Restaured in 1985 the mill stands in Benthuizen, next to Hazerswoude-Dorp where I live. And yes; this is a Dutch windmill (close to Leiden and Gouda). I made several photos of the Hare and was surprised to find so many different intriguing angles. The Hare is a very beautiful windmill.
